Greg Berry
I have been an independent, innovative thinker and a media architect for over 20 years, connecting ideas in manner inspired by systems thinking.
These days, I hold several roles that support and inform each other:
- President, w1sd0m. w1sd0m is an online social network platform designed to increase the flow of social, intellectual, human and financial capital to global sustainable enterprise.
- Partner and President, nuance intelligence. Our consultancy provides media strategy and development for world-changers, as you can read on this site.
- Network Partner, nuPOLIS. nuPOLIS (a site we developed) is the web home for Innovation Network for Communities and Urban Sustainability Associates, which comprise a diverse and powerful national network of experienced professionals who focus on creating scalable social innovation. We bring digital media chops to the team.
As an experienced moderator, I have recently contributed to the Sustainable Opportunities Summit in Denver, the Social Innovation Exchange in Lisbon, the Angel Capital Summit in Denver (where I was the Social Entrepreneur Chair for ACS 2009) and a meetup I host in Boulder and Denver, the Sustainable Ventures Meetup.
Historically, I have had business card titles ranging from Executive Creative Director to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Stuff (ah, the dotcom boom days). I have been an executive and an editor, a consultant and a founder, a global convener and a trusted advisor, a peacekeeper, a devil’s advocate and a currency designer. AlwaysOn thinks I’m a curator.
I’m an Agent of Change and a systems thinker. Since my early teens I have been a cross-cultural networker, and while that used to mean that I was friends with jocks, punks and geeks, it now means that I connect people in networks as diverse as Silicon Valley technologists, Boulder sustainability innovators, European thought leaders, Arab intellectuals, African entrepreneurs, New York City media moguls, Boston academics and globetrotting change agents. Who do you want to meet today?
The thread that runs through each job has been a focus on using technology (the printing press counts) to organize information in support of a community. As a dot.communist, I built and operated web platforms that brought people together and provided them tools and information that enriched their endeavors. As a conference designer, I worked with people across cultures (dozens), continents (five) and time zones (too many) to create discussions and networking space that encouraged cross-disciplinary learning and innovative new partnerships. As a publisher, I researched and wrote about the news and connections among people who made an entire industry run. In each case, I built industry-leading projects that have not only won critical acclaim, but moved the needle where it counts — in the business metrics.

I am a serious telemark skier, and am passionate in my belief that the bicycle is on of the most profound solutions for many of the country’s (and the world’s) problems, including obesity, health care, climate change, energy and lack of community.
Here’s a view of many of the business cards I’ve held along the way, on the wall of my home office:
Our Life Together
I live in Boulder, Colorado with my wife and business partner, Rachel, our two children, our big dog, and two cats. We love Boulder for its access to the outdoors, our luscious garden, the unique collection of kind and excellent people, and an excellent bike path system.
